It started with me taking photos of Carter's weekly mixing event, The Corner. Because I was limited by the lighting, I got creative with my photography. Due to the moody atmosphere, I felt that, stylistically, I should lean into long-exposure motion shots and use my vignette lens. I try to create atmosphere in my photos by highlighting the elements that define the experience. For example, in my concert photography, I often add dramatic contrast and draw attention to the lighting because it is such an integral part of the experience. The small, crowded venue of 715 Club was full of bobbing heads. I wanted that feeling to come across in an exaggerated way by capturing movement over time and using the vignette lens to convey the cramped feeling of being in that very room. Motion is Music, I like idea of freezing that in time. This was accomplished throught long exposure shooting.
Carter is a friend of mine, so I asked him if he wanted some photos in my drawn-over style for an Instagram post. When I showed him the final images, he was so pleased that he decided to use the last featured image as his album cover and save the remaining images for the album announcement post.
